Research collaborations
Yale School of Public Health’s GROW study is examining gestational diabetes among American Samoan women, and Not Just a Patch is named as its adhesive-patch partner – a small part of a study built to produce real answers.
Not Just a Patch is a named partner of the TIMES study, Diabetes Center Berne’s international research effort tracking how insulin sensitivity shifts across the menstrual cycle in 350 women with type 1 diabetes across five countries. It’s a relationship that runs deeper as our founder Pete Lomas has engaged directly with DCB CEO Derek Brandt on the center’s broader mission to fund and coach innovative diabetes technology.
Grants program
The Not Just a Patch Grant Funding Program supports dedicated diabetes healthcare professionals: including Certified Diabetes Educators (CDEs), specialists, and nurses, by providing three global winners with $1,500 AUD each to invest in professional education, clinic equipment, or innovative community initiatives. Launched with its second cycle in late 2024, the program actively empowers clinicians serving vulnerable diabetes communities across North America, Europe, and Australia/New Zealand. The inaugural 2023 grant recipients were Rebecca Roberts (Australia), Anna Reinwand (USA), and Nadia Roberts (Europe), followed by the subsequent global winners announced for the 2024–25 cycle: Melissa Smith (USA/Canada), Chinonso Christabel Uluocha (Europe/UK), and Claire Wilson (Australia/New Zealand)
